DL#23バイロン・ビーティー・ジュニア（BJ）選手が世界選手権のアメリカ代表選手に選ばれたことが、USA Footballから正式発表されました（ロスター：LB#44）。

BJ選手は、春先の選考キャンプに招集され、参加していました。このあと6月中旬に日本を離れ、アメリカ代表のキャンプに合流する予定です。母国アメリカの代表、そしてオービックシーガルズの代表として参戦するBJ選手の活躍にも、どうぞご注目ください。

First, I want to say that it is a great honor and privilege to represent my home country, The United States of America, in the sport of football. This is a great opportunity to represent not only my country but also my biggest supporters, my family and where I come from. To able to play this tournament in the U.S., the birthplace of football, and home of the NFL Hall of Fame is also a great experience for all the athletes who will be attending. I am looking forward to playing my best throughout the tournament, playing at a high level and giving 110% in every game.

The opportunity to play against Japan is also very exciting for our team and coaches. I know many of the great players and coaches in Japan and that they will have a strong team playing in the upcoming tournament. To play against Japan would be a great test of my abilities and also a chance for Japan to show how great they are compared to the rest of the world. I will be supporting them throughout the tournament and I wish them the best of luck. 

To the Seagulls fans I want to say that I will play my hardest no matter what country I play against. Although I will be playing for the U.S. Team I am also representing my team here the Obic Seagulls as well. I want to make you, the fans, my teammates and coaches proud of me. I hope that you can cheer for our players playing for Japan as well as cheering for me.

Thank you for all your support throughout the years and I am very proud to be part of this team and family. Good luck to all the players and teams participating and let's put on a show for the world to see! 

まず、フットボールというスポーツで母国アメリカ合衆国の代表に選ばれたことをたいへん光栄に思います。国の代表というだけでなく、私の最大のサポーターである家族や故郷を代表する素晴らしい機会をいただきました。フットボールが生まれた地アメリカで、しかもNFLの殿堂がある街で開催される大会でプレーできることは、参加するすべてのアスリートにとって素晴らしい経験になるでしょう。私は大会を通してベストを尽くし、どのゲームも高いレベルでプレーし、110％の力を出し切ります。

日本チームとの対戦は、アメリカチームやコーチにとってもたいへんワクワクすることです。日本には優れた選手やコーチがたくさんいるので、強いチームで臨んでくるでしょう。日本戦は、私の力をはかる大きなテストでもあり、日本にとっては、他の国よりどれだけ強いかを示すチャンスになるでしょう。大会中、日本チームをサポートしたいと思っていますし、幸運を祈っています。

オービックシーガルズのファンの皆さん、私はどこの国と対戦することになっても、全力でプレーします。アメリカチームでプレーしますが、自分のチームであるオービックシーガルズの代表でもあります。ファンの皆さんやチームメート、コーチが誇れるプレーをしたいと思います。日本代表選手も私も、同じように応援してください。

これにより、グループA（上位ランクチーム）はアメリカ、日本、メキシコの3か国となり、日本は初戦の不戦勝が決定しました。日本の第1戦は7/12（日）、アメリカ代表対メキシコ代表の勝者との試合となります。代表選考は、本日6/3（水）に第2次候補選手発表、壮行試合翌日の6/15（月）に最終メンバー発表の予定です。
